In British and American show business terms, a green room is a room in a theatre (or similar venue) that is used by performers that are not yet needed on the stage. Asides from a waiting room, the room can also function as a touch-up lounge so that performers do not have to go to the dressing room.
Historically, Green Rooms were painted green, hence the term. However modern “green rooms” can be any colour.
The term “Green Room” has many other meanings. A green room can also refer to a director's critique session held usually after a performance or rehearsal. The term can also be used for a a glass room used for growing plants.
